Module 9: Security and Privacy

We all know that one person who has the same password to EVERYTHING: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Netflix, Online Banking accounts etc. Heck, that person may be YOU, but that’s never personally been my style, and have always wondered if people who practice such behavior understand the danger that it presents.

I was thrilled this week to see that the topic of discussion was Security and Privacy on internet. I was asked to read this article by Mat Hdnan that focused on making sure you don’t reuse passwords and making sure you go through thorough security measures in order to reset passwords: a bunch of stuff that I thought was common sense.

But after reading the article, I got to thinking. There are so many people out there who are completely unaware of how easy it is to steal identities and whatnot, so they just throw their credit card information here and there without a care in the world. But this ignorance, is something that sort of keeps the universe in balance, in that there would be a huge uproar if every single person was aware of the minimal level of difficulty it takes to crack the code on an internet vault.

To me, it’s one of those remove the warning labels and see who survives type things. In this technological age, we have to be smart and always on our toes. It’s just the world we live in.

stay true,
